Looking for a competitive advantage that quenches the “I want it now” thirst your customers have? Charlie Jones of 24/7 Dry Cleaners, in Frisco, TX, offers pick up from his store any time with 25 proprietary custom-made lockers. Jones insists the free service creates tremendous customer loyalty since it’s not offered by his competitors. “It’s popular with the workforce and particularly Millennials. An additional perk is that it also allows for a touchless service.”
Most customers request after hours locker pick up when they drop their clothes off or call during business hours. Some customers have a permanent request for lockers. Jones explains they have their credit card on file and rarely see those customers. These customers pick up their clothes from the locker and leave new ones in their express bag in the drop off bin. The business is paid once the clothes are loaded into the locker.
The 24/7 locker room is separate from the main production facility and call office, but still attached to the store. For added comfort and security, this room is climate-controlled, well-lit and monitored by security cameras.
“It’s a high tech/low tech process,” Jones says. Once you scan the invoice, you scan the locker QR code, which is communicated to their POS, and a text with the locker information and code is sent to the customer. “If something goes wrong, we can always text the customer directly.”
